Common reasons for battery draining:

 

Model year 2003-2012

Faulty door modules or faulty ISM (Ignition Switch Module). Excessive cleaning of the interior with water, can cause these control units to be damaged. Also a faulty AMP 1 (amplifier under the seat) is a common reason for battery draining.

 

Model year 2006-2012 4D, 5D; 2007-2012 Convertible

Faulty AMP 2 (rear amplifier). Can be damaged by water, due to leaking rear door sealing. 

 

Fault tracing hint

The quiescent (sleep) current shall approximately not be more than 20-30 mA.

Test like this:

Measure the quiescent (sleep) current at the battery during this test.

Let the car go to sleep first, which takes approximately 20-25 minutes after ignition off. 

1. Disconnect one door module at a time

2. Disconnect ISM (Ignition Switch Module)

3. Disconnect AMP 1 (Amplifier 1)

4. Disconnect AMP 2 (Amplifier 2)

5. Disconnect fuse by fuse and thus locate where the issue could be

6. Disconnect the alternator

7. Disconnect the starter motor

8. Disconnect UEC (Under hood Electrical Center)
